The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) 

It has been said that a top Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) Official, while on the island of Antigua, was reported as saying that the Anguilla United Movement (AUM) Government, under former Hon. Chief Minister, Mr. Hubert Hughes, had demanded a crisis-evaluation on the two indigenous banks on Anguilla, described as dangerously corrupt, dysfunctional and out of control - namely: The Caribbean Commercial Bank , and The National Bank of Anguilla. The official swears that his institution had no issues with the functioning of these financial institutions on Anguilla, which he recounted as significant. 

The new AUF Government of Anguilla is reported to be working vigorously, with full support from the UK Government, to ensure that the scale and costs of the various government interventions in your indigenous banks are comprehensive and transparent. According to one government official on Anguilla, "there is no need for any alarm, as there is no immediate threat or disruption, as every aspect is under advanced control."

Meanwhile, these social medias have been inundated from the rejected and defunct AUM cronies in the wilderness crying foul, and making irresponsible, often childish and unfounded accusations, and calling for a "referendum on banking issues". LMAO! Let it be known that this AUF Government of Anguilla wishes not to burden you, the good people of Anguilla, further with any taxes, and are anxiously considering ways and means to lessen the burdens placed on you under the incompetent Anguilla Utter Mess (AUM).

ANGUILLA UTTER MESS (AUM's) POLITICS OF FEAR... AND SILENCE

It is cowardly to write an article in a pseudo or pen name, it is intellectually criminal to write it under another person name. I am not happy about the recent article posted giving the impression that I wrote it. I am also not happy because such an article is meant to instill fear in the hearts and minds of Anguillians. It’s meant to destroy the little consumer confidence that remains in our local banks and economy. 

I will tackle this in two parts. Firstly I will say why I don’t support the AUF as a party but willing to support selective policy initiatives. Secondly, I will address relevant points mentioned in the article as negatives but if implemented could have a positive impact on the economy.

I don’t support the AUF because in my opinion it’s a strange cold blooded (asexual) animal. It’s an animal without an internal conscience, it has little sense of right and wrong, it depends on the external environment of public opinion, vigilance and condemnation to keep it walking the straight and narrow. It’s Leader in terms of education and awareness is eons beyond the former Chief Minister, yet his leadership style is weak and lacking because he don’t make waves, he is contented to just merrily rowing his boat down the stream.

Why I say it’s asexual, take a look at the recent appointments to the various boards especially Tourism, and explain to me what are the visible lessons learned from the past. Tell me this animal is not asexual or masturbatory. The old boys and girls club is back in swing while the animal hibernates and silently reproduces itself.

Irrespective of the banking crisis or the state of the economy there are issues that the present Chief Minister should have come to office ready to change. For example the immigration policy where spouses of Anguillians have to buy time for continued residence. He told me he knew it was wrong when it was first introduced but he was not the Chief, well you are the Chief now so fix it today, it’s not a matter that needs to be taken to the House. Also fix it for children born on Anguilla, and students that are educated here, let them not suffer the indignity of also buying time. Stop giving the people of Anguilla the impression that residence on Anguilla can only be determined by the British Nationality Act. I am not anti AUF or Victor; I am anti stupidity, corruption and greed.

In terms of the other members of his team, I think the Minister of Home Affairs means well and has great potential but I am hoping that she stands up for what is right and not be easily led. The Minister of Social Services is a smart guy but mentally lazy. The Minister of Infrastructure is loose cannon. The Chief Minister /AUF decision to incarcerate him within the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications, and Utilities & Housing was its best decision and I don’t anticipate a cabinet reshuffle. However, I believe it would be in the best interest of the youth for Minister of Social Services and the Minister of Home Affairs to be immediately switched.

AUF also need to understand that the salaries of politicians are too high and their decision not discuss this issue will not make it go away. After all they are the ones who burden the people of Anguilla with these exorbitant salaries.

I support the Chief Minister efforts to keep the banks local, even though I suspect we won’t agree in our rationale. I think both of us believe the banks are local assets but I get the impression Chief Minister also believe they should remain in the hands of his unethical bed fellows that caused many of the problems.

Although the intent of the article is sinister, if the Government of Anguilla liberalizes the Alien Land Holding Licences its can be a significant boost to the economy. It would also remove political and economic bias from the system. British oversight of the Banks is not necessarily bad, maybe now they can monitor the accounts of politicians. Deposit insurance to protect Anguillians is an excellent idea. In terms of the Civil Service we got two choices, either we grow the economy or cut the civil service because the present burden is not sustainable. If NBA & CCB have to be merged to create a strong local institution I would support it even if there are some job losses. A broad based but targeted residence programme would also an excellent idea. I would support a Government loan to bail out the banks, but not to hand it over to the economic gangsters. I would expect a new public issue of shares with no connection to the past.

If this article as I suspect is AUM propaganda, all I can say is shut up stop the fear mongering, it is not going to do Anguillians any good. AUM you have no moral legs on which to stand. Spend some time building a new party, you last leader was a national disaster. AUF you need to end the delusion of honeymoon sex as you guys are the only persons on Anguilla experiencing a hand induced orgasm.

BANKING OPINIONS FOR ANGUILLA... UNCONFIRMED

My fellow Anguillians.

Governments around the world have long decided, legally, to make a series of large financial interventions to support the financial stability of their banking institutions. In line with international good practice, and good governance, the Right Hon. Chief Minister and Minister of Finance, Mr. Victor F. Banks, and Government of Anguilla – with full support from the UK Government, are working to ensure that the scale and costs of the various government interventions in your indigenous banks are comprehensive and transparent.

In 2007, financial markets entered a sustained period of instability, causing difficulties for banks across the world, precipitating a global credit crisis, and a widespread economic downturn… and Anguilla, being not in a vacuum, but also a highly valued and respected global financial partner have suffered parallel and direct consequences – contrary to some Illusionist. The Anguilla government ability to service the indigenous banking community debt obligations, like many other finance ministries around the world, will take actions to:

• protect depositors in banks suffering insolvency or a severe decline in market confidence;

• maintain liquidity to allow “our” banks, whose failure would threaten the overall financial system, to pay claims and outstanding borrowings as they fell due;

• ensure that banks whose failure would threaten the overall financial system would have sufficient capital to cushion them from losses caused by further deterioration in the financial markets; and

• encourage banks to lend to creditworthy borrowers.

Your government is methodically considering recapitalization, loaning, nationalization, or introducing and offering relevant schemes such as liquidity, credit guarantee, and asset protection - to cushion your indigenous financial institutions.

In essence, you… my fellow Anguillians, can be assured that this competent AUF-Government will do what is "legal" and "just" and "right" to protect you and secure what is yours – The Caribbean Commercial Bank and The National Bank of Anguilla... because it's all about you.

We are also concerned with the irresponsible, often childish remarks, made via these social media from expected knowledgeable political pundits. Let it be clear - this AUF Government of Anguilla has at no time wish to burden you the good people of Anguilla further with any taxes, and are very much busy with your concerns, considering ways and means to lessen the burdens placed on you under the previous AUM Administration.

The Right Hon. Chief Minister, and respected Minister of Finance, Mr. Victor F. Banks, will address the nation in the not too distant future.

NECESSITY VS IRRESPONSIBILITY...

Both are makeshift crafts loaded with black people... the one on the left is out of pure desperation and necessity... the one on the right is a condoned and irresponsible act by law enforcement authorities on Anguilla.

The one on the left represents hundreds of migrants and asylum seekers fleeing Libya, where hundreds have reportedly drowned after their boat capsized in the Mediterranean. This take to the sea is a direct aftermath of an US-led military operations for regime change in Iraq, Libya and Syria - unrelenting military offensive by imperialist powers over two decades has plunged the Middle East and large swathes of Africa into chaos and conflict... and as the chickens come home to roost, many perished along the way.

The one on the right is a disgrace... simply irresponsible behaviour allowed by the authorities on Anguilla for almost a decade now. This makeshift-craft was never built or equipped, retrofitted (number of life-jackets, medical facility and personal etc.), or licensed to carry passengers... moreover, that Anguilla's sea and rescue management is practically unfit-for-purpose.

These are the kind of illegal activities... serious health and safety risk... and a disaster in the waiting, that the authorities on Anguilla allowed. It must stop now. This continued irresponsible stupidity is not simply through the lack of laws on Anguilla, but rather a neglect, in the interest of unprotected-fun, irrespective to the potential lost of lives. I am sure that laws and regulations are in place. Can you imagine the suits from this impending disaster? Even those witnessing such a disaster can sue for shock.

Both acts are desperations... though one is out of necessity... and the other is purely a fantasy. I'm hoping that our new Commissioner of Police will enforce a legal and commonsense approach going forward.

Anguilla, we must be bold... It's time that we take responsibility head on... and avoid this inevitable disaster. And yes, it happens once a year too much!

ANGUILLA… THE BRAY THAT ROARED

Though some are still in silly mode, the majority of us here on Anguilla are back to reality. While they are being sued for millions, we are united at roundtables, speaking with one voice, one song, one accord… establishing the kinda atmosphere and Anguilla that will create opportunities for all Anguillians; and having the kinda discussions and building the organizations necessary for the reconstitution of a land we beloved and called home.

Team-AUF is an unavoidable change… a necessity… a team fit-for-purpose… that, what you did… an epiphany for which we now glee and wish well. Marvel, you must Anguillians… as your victory has demonstrated God’s will… so was the past five horrible years of an understatement of incompetence.

The Anguilla United Front is your government because of years of confusion of interest and the convergence of confusional cynical approach to nowhere from an inept Anguilla Utter Mess Administration under the leadership of Dr. Ellis Lorenzo Webster. 

You can be assured that under the competent hands of an Anguilla United Front Administration that full restoration of democracy, good governance, and political stability on Anguilla are in order… you have overwhelmingly voted to restore tranquility and economic prosperity back on Anguilla... notwithstanding the sense of peace we felt since April 22.

… and yet Anguilla rises.

AND YET ANGUILLA RISES...

We have learned years ago, working in community organizations like the Sea Scouts, Boys Brigades and the Interact, that progress and change in our country rarely comes from the top down. It's people like you, involving their coworkers, neighbors and friends… change begins with you.

It's a wonderful thing to understand that in theory but it's another to sit in a room full of motivated people, making plans and witnessing the effects of hard work. For us to win this campaign we must not take anything for granted by underestimating the depth of lies and divisiveness, from a confused and utter mess administration here on Anguilla. We must stay strong and build... it will only happen if your sleeves remain rolled up, not ceasing work.

To build on our hope for a better future for Anguilla and its diaspora, we have to take responsibility head on. We want to see all of us as Anguillians in these final days of campaigning, coming together once again in living rooms in that old Anguillian’ fashion… eating our signature rice and peas or fungi with fish. Let’s host each other as brothers and sisters while moving Anguilla in sync. It’s time to replace this 2010 synthetic change with confidence, track record, materializing set objectives - a program mapped out which will serve the interest of all Anguillians in 2015 and beyond. You want this because you believed so deeply that in the face of impossible odds, people who truly love this country can change it.

These election campaigns have sparked much controversy, and unprecedented waves of love and oneness coming together to eradicate a national menace… an utter mess administration. But we still have a few more days to go… It's up to us to harness that energy in crossing that finish line on April 23 morning. We have an incredible opportunity to change politics on Anguilla forever, where people genuinely care about our common future and believe that we have the power to shape the kind of society in which we live.

SURPLUS BUT UNPAID

Surplus they boast, a stronger house built on a strong foundation. But in reality, this Anguilla Utter Mess (AUM) Administration has shown nothing but incompetence, irresponsibility and poor leadership, responsible for the lack of any foundation at all, with loads of squabbling and confusion for five weary years and countless problems remaining to be solved: lack of jobs opportunities, shattered schools and hospital, disgruntled unpaid teachers and other civil servants, healthcare depreciation, roads unrepaired or needed resurfacing, misappropriation of funds, lacking airlift to and from Anguilla, water rationing, energy high cost leaving thousands of families sleeping in the dark, high duties on food leaving babies going to sleep hungry and kids going to school without breakfast, abandoned goods and services for the lack of knowhow and government financing, faulty equipment with serious health and safety risk, and loads of other empty promises. 

Surplus but unpaid… then they ridiculed and called you Puppets, Beggars and Jackasses.

The reality is that Anguilla faces huge challenges ahead for any new administration… but rebuilding is also an opportunity. Are we prepared to endure another five years of torture and poverty under this cartographic failed administration, or take the chance to create something stronger, a foundation as a rock on which dreams are founded. Our focus must be on strengthening the fundamental elements which all communities need to thrive: maintaining local law and order, rebuild our hospital, encouraging our doctors and nurses back to provide reliable healthcare, attracting top educators and restoring schools that will give our children the perfect chance to succeed and compete in the global market, clean drinking water, energy, food… access.

These are the failures which expose this AUM’s arrogance and incompetence which must be eradicated, a detachment from the lives of real people and an indifference to the consequences for the least fortunate among us. In rebuilding Anguilla, we need a team who will renew that commitment to one another… a team who will return to the core principle of our great nation by honoring our responsibility to our fellow citizens. The rude-awakening is that our failure is a UK liability in waiting.

My fellow Anguillians we need a team who will be our keeper, that will mitigate such an awakening, who understands, that foundation which makes all of us stronger…

BOP THEM (F)LIES, AND SWEEP THEM OUT!

This election, the attacks are vile and endless, where the respectable are disrespected by the disingenuous. Some of you may have heard about the disgusting lies perpetrated by the deceptive AUM's influential peddlers, or certain accreditation seeking serpents with their phony and bias analysis from their non-refereed sources - twisting arms trying to distort the facts and savage our efforts to bring civility back in politics on Anguilla. These attacks have been perpetrated to disrespect and smear our leader’s christian faith and deep patriotism, and distort his record of more than two decades of humble leadership in public service.

Their attacks are nothing short than being childish and pathetic. The same immature and bitter tactics this confused administration has used again and again when you rightfully and repeatedly sentenced them to the wilderness, soon to be returned. I know that our distinguished leader, Mr. Victor Franklin Banks, is committed to fighting every smear every time. He'll fight hard and stand up for the truth, but he can't do it alone. Therefore, whenever you hear the truth from Team-AUF’s platforms we need you to email it to your address books - print it out and post it at work - talk to your families, relatives and neighbors - call your local radio stations or write a letter to the editor of the Anguillian. If lies can be spread virally, let's prove to the cynics that the truth can be every bit as persuasive as it is powerful.

The power in the voices of the people is their commitment to bringing our country together to meet the challenges we face, though knowing that power gives up nothing without a struggle - and to win the chance to bring back civility in government on Anguilla, we must first defeat the hateful tactics that have been used to tear us apart for too long now. We're determined to turn the page on an era of divisive politics, that when we hear these attacks, we will take decisive action immediately with truths.

The fight for Anguilla and its people is in full swing. Like the last, we won't let them steal this election with their lies, distortions, and their Shangonism. And what we have learned is that these attacks, no matter how bogus they are, can spread and take root if they go unchecked. The truth matters, but how you fight the lies matters even more. We must be determined never again to lose any election to a lie on Anguilla by stopping this futile bunch at the gates on Election Day.

This campaign is not simply a fight to win an election... its a fight for survival. Get on-board my people... it's all about you Anguilla!

The Anguilla Utter Mess (AUM) Administration and their influential peddlers still measure success solely by falsifying arithmetic ie. everything calculated as a catastrophic failure - economy, tourism, education, well-being, health, crime etc. And though we hold our own on that scorecard, we can prove a much more powerful point. We can prove that it's the success of the people that measured our excellence prior to 2010. 

So while the AUM continue to fabricate and propagate their mountains of lies and innuendos in this general election... the say-anything-to-win whispering campaign to no where... Team-AUF is on a course of setting goals in support of you the electorate who seeks a new kind of politics in the depth of people's commitment to political stability, economic development, peace, and a nation’s possibilities and prosperity.

We can do this with your help; there's power in numbers. If you're ready to be part of Team-AUF, now is the time to stand up and be counted, my fellow Anguillians. I know what I'm asking for is hard... that the AUM's politics and politicians have disappointed you so badly, to the point where sometimes it seems easier just to tune out and walk away.

That's what all the people who benefit from politics on Anguilla as a game are counting on.

That's why we need you. That's why we cannot do this alone. Team-AUF is not just asking you only to trust its ability to restore good government and change this country forever – it's asking you to trust in yourself; in your own instincts; in your own sense of possibilities; in your own sense of what's right for you and generations of Anguillians.

CONFIDENT AND UNAFRAID

The Anguilla United Front (AUF) continue to build the largest support in campaign history on Anguilla, while our opponents and their influence-peddlers are still in their rut... a convergence of confusion.

The comparison is simple – an Anguilla Utter Mess (AUM) empty legacy... a disunited political approach to nowhere or a fit-for-purpose Team-AUF who is committed to major development projects to be implemented following this forthcoming general election:

• Procurement of investment for at least two marinas within the first two years of office.

• Extend the Clayton J Lloyd International Airport and improve aerodrome facilities within the first three years.

• Government to facilitate and support investment with the private sector in developing an Anguillian scheduled airline service to provide better access to the hubs in the region, especially St Maarten/St Martin within the first two years. This will involve all local investors in the industry.

• Construct The Valley Road Development Project within the first three years of the AUF’s term.

• Build new terminal facilities at Blowing Point within the first three years.

• Construct a Commercial Port Facility at Corito within the AUF’s term. This project will involve a holistic development plan for the area including solutions to the landfill site; access roads; a study of the feasibility of a cruise facility in the area; and a plan to mitigate the negative impacts on the residents in the area.

• A major social development project to establish cafeterias in all the schools within the next two years. This will be informed by a proper nutritional plan to be developed and managed by the Department of Food and Nutrition.

The Team-AUF has long turned the page - the kind of politics based on the idea that we are all connected as one people, that we all have a stake in one another... you can count on politics once again. We strongly believe that ordinary Anguillians like you can change our country.

Sadly the AUM’s position remains status-quo with their empty say-anything-to-win, can’t-do, won't-do, won't-even-try style of politics on Anguilla.

Your generosity is what will make it possible to mount a winning campaign in this general elections. Thank you for taking the most extraordinary and deeply humbling time to take ownership of this campaign in such huge numbers we've been witnessing over the past few weeks in our political process. It means our campaign has more supporters, and it’s a wake-up call to our current politics and the wishful thinking of the dove under the tree. 

While our opponents are in government grandstanding, we've demonstrated that we've defied the pundits’ expectations and turned the political process on its head - now it’s time to build on our milestones of success - that Victor Franklin Banks​ is clean, McNiel Rogers​ is honest, and Curtis Richardson is innocent.

It means ordinary people like you and I will no longer be taken for Jackasses; that we are coming together in unprecedented numbers to demand economic growth and prosperity, tranquility, and stability in the restoration of good governance on Anguilla.

It means that you've clipped the DOVE, defied the Anguilla Utter Mess (AUM) and their influential peddlers - rejecting their cynicism and negativity, and embracing the hope and confidence that the Anguilla United Front (AUF) Team is fit-for-purpose on day 1 in office - a united team of professionals that you can trust to take us forward and continue changing things for the better, on Anguilla​.

We are building this movement so big, so deep, and so personal that even our youths like Shamica ain't silent no more. Those silent stories that ring true with passion, and a hunger for continuity, are all out now in droves standing up and being counted in this general election, fully aware that the stakes are too high and will not be auctioned to a set of vile bidders in this up coming general elections.

But even though so many of us share a common goal, our success is not inevitable. While everyone is marveling at our numbers and patting us and each others' on their backs, we still need to continue focusing on building and organizing,, and remind the electorate to look how long they were taken and threaded like Jackasses - so much so that they believed that even a Poodle was qualified.

We know that working together with a common purpose can continue transforming communities; and the same is true for our country. We need to continue reaching out to our friends, family, colleagues, and neighbors, identifying our common grounds and working together for the common good on Anguilla.

With such solidarity and a well organized AUF-Team under the stewardship of Mr. Victor Franklin Banks, we cannot thank you enough for your generosity and continue support to get Anguilla back on track. It’s impressive and inspiring, but we have a few weeks more to go still.
